Client Challenge
The client had a large wind farm installed base across the world but had no presence in India. The entry route selected by the client was to have co-ownership of a wind farm with an Indian partner. Thus, the client requested UC Strategy to develop a systematic screening of partnership opportunities in the Indian market
Our Approach
To develop partnership opportunities in the Indian market, UC Strategy adopted the following approach:
- Conducted in-depth research for understanding the nuances of Indian wind energy space like the total potential, attractive states, government policies and regulations, returns expectations etc
- Conducted in-depth research for understanding the nuances of Indian wind energy space like the total potential, attractive states, government policies and regulations, returns expectations etc
- Based on the client’s strategic requirement, developed a screening criterion for all three categories and filtered out companies which did not fit that criteria
- Conducted detailed interviews with the remaining companies to profile each one of them in detail
- Potential partner prioritisation was done based on an evaluation of each company on multiple parameters and an overall assessment report was prepared to shortlist companies to have a direct interaction with the client.
Our Impact
The client was assisted in the decision-making process for selecting a suitable Indian partner. The client received a detailed assessment on different parameters and a profile of each of the shortlisted potential partners.
