Consultant

Consultants are an integral part of an engagement team and play an active role in all aspects of an engagement including conducting interviews, organising and conducting research, building analytical frameworks and presenting results of work to the client and senior colleagues at the Firm.

Consultants take on significant responsibility, report directly to the project manager, work in teams and yet be able to shine as individuals.

Over a period of 3 years, Consultants mature into assuming the role of Senior Consultants subject to, of course, the individual having demonstrated the skills required to develop and maintain an effective and professional client consultant relationship, advanced levels of analytical and technical skills, and an established track record for high quality performance.

Consultants often have client and Director contact from the first case. Consultants work on projects that expose them to a wide range of strategic business issues and processes. Promotion to Senior Consultant is merit-based and generally occurs after 2-3 years as a Consultant. Over 50% of our Consultant recruits, made Senior Consultant in the last 2 years.

Senior Consultant

 In exceptional cases, those with a Master’s degree and over 5 – 6 years of work experience may be directly offered a position of Senior Consultant at the Firm. In most cases, however, Associate Consultants, after 3 – 4 years, or Consultants after having spent 1 – 2 years in the role, mature into becoming Senior Consultants.

Senior Consultants play an active role in all aspects of an engagement including structuring of client issues, planning, conducting interviews, brainstorming solutions and presenting results of work to clients. They provide thought leadership and analyse efforts, work closely with clients and communicate the progress of engagements to their senior colleagues at the Firm.

Senior Consultants drive successful completion of client engagements, ensure a high quality of service, and demonstrate an advanced development of technical and analytical skills. They report directly to the engagement manager or in some cases lead engagements themselves, and develop capabilities of the consultants on the team. Senior Consultants are also expected to play an important role in firm development activities, especially in the area of training.

Manager

In exceptional cases, those with a Masters degree and over 7 years of work experience may be offered a position as Manager at the Firm. In most cases, however, Senior Consultants, after having spent 3 – 5 years in the role, mature into becoming Managers.

Managers are experienced hands with a track record as successful engagement leaders. They undertake larger engagement management responsibilities and manage a number of client engagements. They provide thought leadership, set the tone of engagements, shape research and analyse efforts, work closely with clients to ensure that engagements reach successful completion within time and budgets. They also ensure that the client agenda is met.

Managers report directly to the Associate Directors/ Directors and develop capabilities of Associates, Consultants and Senior Consultants on the team. Managers play an important role in Firm Development activities, especially in the area of training, recruitment and business development.

Managers contribute to the Firm’s thought leadership by building deep expertise in one or two practice areas while maintaining their edge on general strategic, operational and organizational issues. They translate engagement experiences and expertise in their respective practices into rich insights for clients and the Firm.

Over a period of 3-4 years, Managers may be promoted to join the position of Associate Director, subject to, of course, the individual demonstrating the required capabilities.

Associate Director

Associate Directors provide the overall leadership at UC. The nature of the role requires a minimum of

7 – 10 years within UC to be eligible for invitation to the group.

Associate Directors are responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and employee satisfaction in the Firm. They work closely with client teams and ensure engagement agendas maximize client impact. Associate Directors deepen and strengthen client relationship and actively develop new client relationships. They are also responsible for the day-to-day running of the Firm and drive many firm development initiatives including Human Resources, knowledge management, training and mentoring.

Director

Directors provide the overall leadership at UC. The nature of the role requires a minimum of 9-12 years within UC to be eligible for invitation to the director group.

Directors are responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and employee satisfaction in the Firm. Directors work closely with client teams and ensure engagement agendas maximize client impact. Directors deepen and strengthen client relationship and also actively develop new client relationships. Directors are also responsible for the day-to-day running of the Firm and drive a number of firm development initiatives including Human Resources, knowledge management, training and mentoring.

Directors contribute to the Firm’s thought leadership by building expertise in a few practice areas while maintaining their edge on general strategic, operational and organizational issues. They also write articles and translate engagement experiences and expertise in their respective practices into rich insights for our clients and the Firm.

Office Staff

Office Staff roles are very diverse and challenging in UC. This includes research support, marketing support, finance /administration support, documentation support, Knowledge Management support, Social Media support and operational support. The Office Staff Team plays an important role in assisting the professional staff and is critical to the firm achieving its objectives.

UC offers opportunities for interested candidates to function as a part of a truly world-class office management team. A graduate degree with 1 – 2 years’ experience is a pre-requisite. Alternatively, those with Master’s Degree in research and documentation support.

Market Administration Executives are essential members of the marketing team and play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the marketing process. They are actively involved in lead generation, scheduling meetings, and collaborating closely with the Marketing Administration team to ensure smooth operations and effective client interactions.

Market Administration Executives take on significant responsibilities, reporting directly to the marketing manager, working in teams while also excelling as individuals.

Over a period of 1-2 years, Market Administration Executives develop the expertise and experience needed to advance their careers within the firm, provided they demonstrate the skills required to build and maintain effective client relationships, exhibit high levels of communication and persuasive abilities, and consistently deliver high-quality performance.

Market Administration Executives often interact with clients and directors from the outset. They work on projects that expose them to a wide range of marketing and business development issues and processes.

Knowledge Executives are crucial members of the team, ensuring that UC’s professional staff can deliver high-quality service to our clients. They play a vital role in capturing and managing knowledge, contributing to the firm’s ability to provide exceptional consulting services.

Knowledge Executives take on significant responsibilities, reporting directly to the knowledge management lead, working collaboratively with various teams, and excelling as individuals.

Over a period of 1-2 years, Knowledge Executives gain the skills and experience necessary to advance their careers within the firm, provided they demonstrate the ability to manage and process information efficiently, support proposal development, and maintain high standards of content quality.

Talent Acquisition Executives are essential members of our HR team, playing a critical role in identifying and sourcing top talent to meet the organization’s needs. They manage the entire recruitment process from start to finish and contribute significantly to the overall HR strategy.

Talent Acquisition Executives take on substantial responsibilities, reporting directly to the HR manager, collaborating closely with various departments, and excelling as individuals.

Over a period of 1-2 years, Talent Acquisition Executives develop the skills and experience necessary to advance their careers within the firm. This advancement is contingent upon their ability to efficiently manage candidate databases, analyze candidate profiles, and maintain high standards in the recruitment process.

Talent Acquisition Executives often have contact with candidates and senior staff from the beginning. They work on projects that expose them to a wide range of HR practices and business development processes.
